Restorative Treatment Options
– Inlays und Onlays (Gold and ceramics)
– Tooth colored fillings (Composite multilayer technique with individual coloring )
Inlays and onlays individually fabricated fillings that are glued or cemented into or onto the treated tooth. P>
An inlay can cover larger defects and permanently restores the function, stability and appearance of the tooth. In terms of longevity inlays are a very form of treatment.
Inlays made of gold are more suitable for the treatment of rear posterior teeth than traditional fillings (amalgam), since this material is extremely strong and durable. If at higher aesthetics are required, ceramic inlays which are also highly stable, are used. Their thermal conductivity is similar to that of tooth enamel. Ceramic does not trigger allergies and is in regards to biocompatibility the material of first choice. P>
Root canal treatments, apicoectomies
The healthy tooth consists of a visible crown and one or more dental roots. Inside the tooth is the tooth nerve. If the nerve is attacked by bacteria (caries, decay), it can become inflamed and even die. If the bacteria continue to multiply and exit through the apex of the tooth into the surrounding bone tissue, an inflammation of the jaw bone can follow (pictured left). p>
In order to rescue such a damaged tooth, bacteria and tissue debris have to be removed from the root canal(s) which are then filled and sealed. Root canal treatment require a lot of time, experience, care and expertise. In advanced cases with the formulation of granulomas, an apicoectomy might be required (pictured right).
